Introduction
This programme allows you to achieve an Honours Degree in one year of study, if you already have a Pearson BTEC Level 5 HND Diploma qualification in Accounting, Business, Management or a related area. This course builds on your existing knowledge and prepares you for managerial and professional roles in sales, finance, general business and the public sector. These are currently some of the highest profile areas of the international business world. You will develop key management skills and techniques found in the management of projects, strategic management accounting, strategic management of people and marketing within the context of a dynamic contemporary business environment. A particular feature of Sunderland's programme is a set of workshops in which you discuss local and international case studies and real-life examples in smaller groups in order to develop your skills and understanding. Teaching and Assessment Teaching methods include lectures, seminars, and smaller group workshops through interaction with the academic staffs and other students. The delivery methodology of the Top-up degree modules has been adapted to enhance the learning experience of the students. You will attend on a regular basis for face-to-face sessions delivered by academic staff to support and contextualise learning materials. The sessions also include group-based activities, tutorials and assessment preparation workshops. You will be developed as independent learners and will be encouraged to take responsibility for their own learning. The style of learning will be a blend of activity-based as well as teaching based. Activities within the learning materials will require students to analyse course ideas and to develop deeper understanding of the units through a variety of knowledge and skills based tasks. The assessment encompasses a blend of activities for formative and summative assessment designed to test learning outcomes of the Programme. Assessment methods include written exams, case studies, assignments, and reports.
