Pearson Education Ltd is offering the widest range of internationally recognised qualifications. From academic qualifications such as Pearson Edexcel GCSEs to vocational qualifications such as Pearson BTECs, every day our qualifications help learners achieve their educational and career aspirations. Edexcel, whose name derives from ‘educational excellence’, is the UK's largest awarding body offering academic and vocational qualifications and testing to schools, colleges, employers and other places of learning in the UK and internationally. It was formed in 1996 by the merger of the Business & Technology Education Council (BTEC), the country’s leading provider of vocational qualifications, and the University of London Examinations & Assessment Council (ULEAC), one of the major exam boards for GCSEs and A levels. BTEC Qualifications are undertaken in vocational subjects ranging from business studies to engineering and are equivalent to other qualifications such as the GCSE (levels 1 to 2), A Level (level 3) and university degrees (levels 4 to 7). BTEC HND (level 5) is a higher education qualification in UK. This qualification can be used to gain entry into universities at an advanced level, and is considered equivalent to the second year of a three year university degree (with honours) course.
