Psychological Approaches for Complex Mental Health Issues
If you are already a qualified mental health professional this part-time Masters course will develop your clinical skills in evidence-based therapies, enabling you to undertake specialist roles such as clinical lead, manager and consultant. The course will integrate with, inform and enhance your day-to-day clinical practice with complex mental health issues. After the first year you can specialise in either Cognitive Behavioural Therapy or Family and Systemic Therapy. The Family Therapy route is based on the Somerset Model (Burbach and Standbridge 2006). This is the only course in the North East that focuses on the recovery and support of complex mental health issues for those working within secondary and tertiary mental health services. The course is also distinctive because of the way it applies theoretical concepts directly into clinical practice. Health Education North East is funding a number of places for staff who currently work within the Northumberland Tyne & Wear (NTW) and Tees, Esk and Wear Valleys (TEWV) NHS Foundation Trusts and their commissioned services. Applications are welcomed from all mental health practitioners including nurses, doctors, social workers, clinical psychologists and occupational therapists. |
