Health Information Management
Health informatics is one of the fastest growing areas within healthcare and there are huge opportunities for innovative IT projects to improve patient care. This part-time course specifically aims to develop IT and business skills among health professionals in the North East. We have developed the content in collaboration with senior NHS managers and we regularly invite them to provide guest lectures and share their insights. The course is suitable if you want to combine computing skills with organisational skills in a healthcare environment. You will develop quality approaches to systems analysis and implementation, while also learning about health care policies and how they impact on Information Management & Technology. During the first year you will attend the University one day a week, on a Wednesday. NHS employees are usually given day release. During the remainder of the course contact time is flexible, making it easier to fit your studies around your work commitments. There is a high level of online support. Core modules include ‘Health Information Systems Analysis’, ‘Application Building’ and ‘Current Health Information Issues’. Options include ‘Project Management and Control’ and ‘Decision Support Management’. You can negotiate the topic of the Masters project to match your personal interests and career aspirations. |
