This course gives you a professional launch pad for a career as an illustrator, digital artist or graphic designer – among many other options. The main emphasis of the course is on exploring different aspects of image making and visual communication.

You will negotiate the precise content of the course with your tutors. Projects could include creating illustrated books or developing a particular style of illustration. The freedom to experiment is part of the Masters experience.

Our tutors are experienced professionals who teach through demonstrations, practical feedback, master classes and seminars. The course combines creative studio practice with rigorous contextual studies. We support you as you create a creative portfolio that will excite and impress potential employers.

‌At Masters level, the specialisms of tutors are an important factor. Our Department offers a wide range of research expertise, including Illustration, book design, typography and printmaking. Our graduates are members of theAssociation of Illustrators (AOI) and have won many prestigious illustration awards.

You will be based at our Design Centre, which allows you to develop your creativity while taking advantage of state-of-the-art facilities and, importantly, your own work space.
