Education Studies

UCAS Code

X3

Duration

3 or 4 years

Many people study modules about education alongside a subject that they intend to teach. Up to half your study time can be dedicated to education modules.

You will cover theories of education and the ways that it can be organised. Modules include ‘Foundations of Teaching and Learning’, ‘Analysing Education Topics’ and ‘Students as Tutors’.

Some of the modules are also available to students on our childhood studies courses. It is therefore not necessary, and not possible, to combine education with childhood studies.

A popular combination is education studies with a subject in the national curriculum, such as English, history or a foreign language, such as French or Spanish. This helps prepare you for a career in teaching.

Another approach is to combine education studies with a creative arts subject such as dance or drama. This will allow you to pursue your passion for the creative subject while simultaneously developing your capacity to share that passion with others.

You could also combine education studies with any of the other subjects in the Combined Subjects programme.

Our tutors provide a very supportive learning environment. According to the National Student Survey, 96% of our education students find that staff are good at explaining things and make the subject interesting.
