Sport - Combined Subjects (Major, Dual, Minor) - BA/BSc (Hons)

UCAS Code: C6

Duration: 3 or 4 years

If you’re interested in sport then we can help you turn your interest into a career. You can choose to spend a third, half, or two thirds of your course on modules related to sport.

A popular combination is sport with education. This could lead to further training to become a sports/PE teacher in secondary schools.

Another popular combination, particularly among people who are considering teaching, is sport as a minor or dual combination with a subject that is part of the national curriculum. Suitable subjects would be English, history or a foreign language. You could qualify as a teacher in the national curriculum subject and also offer expertise in sport – giving you an edge over other job applicants.

You could also combine sport with business and management or any of the other subjects in the Combined Subjects programme.

The core topics for studies in sport are biomechanics, physiology, psychology and anatomy. The University has excellent facilities for studying all these topics, including specialist laboratories and state-of-the-art technology.

Our teaching team is passionate about their subject. According to the National Student Survey, 90% of our sports science students find that staff are good at explaining things.

Right from the start, there is a high level of support from the Combined Subjects team. Throughout your degree you will have a Personal Tutor who will monitor progress, discuss options and offer appropriate guidance.
