Journalism offers the opportunity to be creative, to come into contact with people from all walks of life and to see your work reach thousands – maybe millions – of readers, viewers or listeners every day.

You can choose to spend a third, half, or two thirds of your study time on journalism. A popular choice is for people to combine practice-based modules in journalism with theory-based modules in English language and linguistics.

If you would like to combine journalism with sport, please apply for the BA (Hons) Sports Journalism. If you would like to combine it with media studies, please apply for BA (Hons) Mass Communications.

You could also combine journalism with any of the other subjects in the Combined Subjects programme.

Our tutors provide a very supportive environment; it’s easy to receive advice with areas of difficulty and there are daily ‘drop in’ sessions staffed by a rota of professional journalists. We also provide practical help in arranging placements and extending your real-world experience.

Our journalism team consists of highly experienced professionals who are specialists in their fields. Be warned, the enthusiasm they have for their subjects is infectious!
