English - Combined Subjects (Major, Dual or Minor) - BA/BSc (Hons)

UCAS Code: Q3

Duration: 3 or 4 years

English has traditionally been the most common subject within the Combined Subjects programme. You can pursue your interest in literature within the context of an academic discipline that is known and respected by employers.

If you are considering a career in teaching, a dual or major route in English would provide the subject knowledge that is required to teach the subject at secondary level after the necessary postgraduate training. A popular combination is English and a second subject that can give you an extra edge when it comes to applying for teaching jobs, such as childhood studies, dance, sport or a foreign language, such as French or Spanish

For those who are not considering teaching, a popular approach is to combine the theory-based modules of English with the practice-based modules of journalism or public relations.

You can combine English with any other subject in the Combined Subjects programme. You can choose to spend a third, half, or two thirds of your study time on English.

Once you have started your course, you will find that our tutors provide a very supportive learning environment. According to The Guardian University Guide 2012, 95% of our English students are satisfied with their course.
