Advanced Professional Practice
UCAS Code CID996 Duration 1 years This course is designed to fit alongside your existing practice as a teacher or educationalist, continuing your professional development to Masters level. As a result you will be able to make a bigger contribution at the front line of education. There is a choice of applied modules including ‘Advanced Pedagogical Practice’, which allows you to critically examine a subject in which you are a specialist. You can also choose to undertake ‘Innovation and Reflection in Practice Settings’ and/or a piece of action research that focuses on an area or phase that is of particular interest to you. We provide plenty of support for your dissertation, including a module in research methods in education. The research element of the course is excellent preparation if you decide to go on to a higher degree such as a PhD. The course takes account of the latest Teachers’ Standards, which are about achieving the highest possible standards of professionalism. The course is also informed by insights from our Centre for Pedagogy whose specialisms include teaching styles, motivation, human relationships in learning and comparative education.
