The English team is recognised as one of the top research teams in the University. The core modules cover the principles of studying and writing about literature. There is also a range of optional modules that allow you to develop a love of literature alongside like-minded students and within a creative and supportive environment. The options include 'Writing and Reading Narrative Fiction', 'The Novel: from Realism to Modernism' and 'Contemporary Irish Poetry'. In the final year you will be able to choose from a range of cutting-edge specialist options based on the research interests of the English staff. You will also develop your research skills through writing a 6,000 word dissertation on a topic of your choice.
