The core modules cover the principles of studying and writing about literature. They also help you acquire valuable skills in communication and analytical thinking. We encourage you to become culturally empowered and highly articulate.

There is also a range of optional modules that allow you to develop a love of literature alongside like-minded students and within a creative and supportive environment. The options include 'Writing and Reading Narrative Fiction', 'The Novel: from Realism to Modernism' and 'Contemporary Irish Poetry'.

In the final year you will be able to choose from a range of cutting-edge specialist options based on the research interests of the English staff. You will also develop your research skills through writing a 6,000 word dissertation on a topic of your choice.
