Full certificate stage in Post Compulsory Education and Training (University Certificate year (PGCE))

UCAS Code: CID1193

Duration: Normally 30 Weeks (but flexible)

This 30-week course leads to Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS) status, which is a key qualification for teachers in the Post-Compulsory Education and Training (PCET) sector.

This course builds on your previous studies at foundation and intermediate levels of the PGCE (PCET), increasing your capacity to teach in settings such as vocational training, sixth form colleges and adult education.

At the heart of the course is your personal development as a professional teacher/trainer. You will deepen your knowledge of your subject specialism and also explore theories related to policy and curriculum. The aim is to achieve excellence in sharing knowledge with others and helping them fulfil their potential.

The course is very flexible so that it can fit around your existing commitments. You will attend classes on-campus for six days. The rest of your studying will be via distance learning, using webinars, online tutorials and interactive group work.

The course is led by a highly experienced team of research-active teacher educators. Their work is well regarded both within the UK and internationally.

The course is recognised by the Learning and Skills Improvement Service, which was involved in its development. It is delivered through the nationally-recognised Sunderland Centre for Excellence in Teacher Training (SUNCETT).
