Applied Investigation
UCAS Code: CID951 Duration: 1 year If you have knowledge and experience of investigating serious and complex crime, this course offers accreditation at university level. You will undertake a year of work-based learning that leads to a BA (Hons) degree. The course strikes a balance between theory and application, relevant to your work and has application within the investigative framework. All elements of the course are highly relevant to continuing professional development and enhancing critical reflection. We have developed the concept of the course with senior police officers and members of ACPO. Applied Investigation BA (Hons) has two modules. In the first module you will identify your individual needs for professional development. You will do this through a process of critical reflection and self-awareness, with the aim of achieving personal transformation and change. The skills you develop in the first module will prepare you for the second module, which is a major work-based project. You will research and critically evaluate a contemporary and significant issue in your professional environment, and the result of your work will be robust and evidence-based recommendations. This course empowers you to direct your own course of study and is highly flexible. You will need to attend the University of Sunderland for five days during year. The course runs twice a year, once starting in February, and once starting in October. This is the only course of its type in the country. When you complete the course you will gain a BA (Hons) degree, and you will also be qualified to study at the next level, which isInvestigative Management MA. |
