Extended Programmes Science - Computing pathway BSc (Hons)
UCAS Code: I101 Duration: 4 years This is a four-year course, made up of a one-year foundation course which allows you to progress straight onto a three-year Computing undergraduate course. The foundation course provides you with a solid grounding in Computing / IT, as well as the study skills you need to tackle a degree. This course can provide an alternative route onto a Computing course for people with the following situations:
Computing is an exciting and well-paid industry. The IT sector is expanding at a phenomenal rate, and career prospects are excellent for highly skilled Computing graduates. The entry requirements for this course are lower than for the three-year undergraduate courses, so it's a great route in for students who don't have the necessary UCAS points. It's also suitable for people who have industry experience but lack formal qualifications. When you successfully complete the first year of this course you will be guaranteed a place onto the first year of Computing BSc (Hons). If you wish to specialise in a particular area of Computing, you may be able to transfer onto another of our Computing courses instead, subject to approval. As an Extended Programmes Science – Computing Pathway student you’ll have access to all of the University’s support services and technical facilities, which include specialist networking laboratories. We also provide professional-level developer software and advanced hardware through accreditations with Microsoft, Cisco and other major companies. |
