UCAS Code: G400 Duration: 3 or 4 years This course is the broadest of our suite of computing courses. You will cover all the fundamentals of computer science and systems administration and become expert in areas of web design, multimedia and mobile development. You will gain plenty of hands-on experience through challenging projects that develop your creativity and technical skills. The North East ranks as no.2 region in the UK for number of software companies, second only to London. Regional employers include Sage, the FTSE 100’s only digital company. As a result there are excellent opportunities for well-trained graduates. Teaching at Sunderland is fully up-to-date with the latest trends in technology and the needs of high-tech employers. The course is further enriched by our research into areas such as human-computer interaction, intelligent systems and internet technologies. Research by Sunderland in computer science has been classed as ‘world-leading’ by the Research Assessment Exercise. You will have full access to the University’s outstanding IT facilities, which include specialist networking laboratories. We provide professional-level developer software and advanced hardware through accreditations with Microsoft, Cisco and other major companies. We encourage our students to undertake a year-long placement between the second and final years, although it is not compulsory. It’s a great opportunity to get paid to put your learning into practice and to extend your experience. |
