Nursing

UCAS Code   CID1083

Duration        1 years

Nursing is increasingly a profession where higher qualifications are required for promotion. A Masters qualification can help you take on roles like nurse team manager and nurse consultant. Such roles will allow you to continue your professional development and make a bigger contribution to people’s health and well-being.

The content of this course is based on the NHS Leadership Framework, including managing people, working within teams, making decisions, evaluating impact and facilitating transformation. You will refine and practise skills and also enhance your ability to teach, mentor and manage other members of the health care team.

The course also responds to changes in the public health system. Modules include epidemiology and sociological perspectives in health. Everything that you study will be directly related to the needs of the NHS and other health care employers.

The final stage of the Masters develops research rigour as you undertake a primary piece of hands-on research. Your project will draw on our Department’s expertise, which includes patient-centred care and public health interventions.

Recent graduates from the course have gained promotion into higher-banded roles in the NHS. Other graduates have progressed to doctoral programmes and moved into lecturing and teaching.
